The highest number of places (23,000 places) was granted to applicants who applied under the Employer Sponsored category (subclass 186). Software and applications programmers received the highest number of visas in this category, followed by registered nurses, accountants, ICT business and systems analysts, university lecturers, and tutors.
The second highest number of places was granted to applicants who applied under the State and Territory Nominated category (subclass 190). Nurses received the highest number of permanent visas in this category, followed by software programmers, accountants, ICT analysts, general practitioners, and resident medical officers.
