People are leaving Hong Kong, but where are they going? | Mi

Hong Kong’s residents have been trickling away since 2020 and 2021, but the 2022 Hong Kong emigrant population expects to surpass the previous two years in flying colours. In 2020, Hong Kong lost 1.2% (93,000) of its population from emigrations, followed by another 23,000 residents in 2021. Yet somehow this year estimates a much larger number of emigrants from Hong Kong. On average, Hong Kong has been receiving 53,000 new residents annually (from 2015 - 2019). Yet this number is about the same as the number of emigrants counted from the first two weeks of March alone.
