What is Child Care Subsidy (CCS)
It is the assistance offered by the Australian government to help you with the cost of child care. If you get CCS, some of your child care fees will be subsidised. The subsidy will be paid directly to the child care service providers.
Eligibility
To get Child Care Subsidy (CCS), both you or your partner must:
- care for your child at least 2 nights per fortnight, or have 14% care
- be responsible for paying fees for care provided at an approved child care service*
- meet the residence rules*
Your child must also:
- meet immunisation requirements
- not be attending secondary school unless an exemption applies.
*Approved child care is services that have Australian Government approval to get Child Care Subsidy on your behalf to reduce your fees. It includes:
- Centre Based Day Care, including long day care and occasional care
- Family Day Care
- Outside School Hours Care, including before, after and vacation care
- In Home Care
*Residence rules require you or your partner to be living in Australia and have one of the following:
- Australian citizenship
- a permanent visa
- a Special Category visa
- a certain temporary visa type, for example a Partner Provisional or Temporary Protection visa.
