Scheme Criteria
To better understand the general qualities looked for to attain this visa, we’ve compiled a condensed list of prerequisites and other qualities that help to increase your chances of success!
1. Prerequisites
Before they may be granted points under one of the scheme's two points-based assessments, all candidates must first meet a series of criteria.
2. Points-based test
Applicants who have fulfilled all of the qualifications may select between the General Points Test and the Achievement-based Points Test. The General Points Test has six point-scoring variables while the Achievement-based Points Test has one point-scoring component. Applicants who apply for the Achievement-based Points Test still have to establish that they meet the minimum passing score established in the General Points Test.
3. Selection exercise
Applications with high test scores will be shortlisted for additional evaluation. The Advisory Committee will advise the Director of Immigration on the most effective way to distribute quota in each selection process after taking into account the socioeconomic needs of Hong Kong, the sectoral mix of candidates, and other pertinent criteria. High-scoring applications or passing the minimum requirement do not guarantee quota allocation. Since processing applications takes time, applicants may believe that their applications are still being processed until they receive a notice of denial from the Immigration Service.
4. Successful selection and visa issuance
A visa/entry permit (in the form of a "e-Visa") under the Program will be given to successful applicants for their intended stay in Hong Kong.
